Things Will Never Change Until...

So I guess it is time for me to be honest. Like most males with a computer and a pulse I have used the Internet to look at porn. So I can not say that porn containing consenting adults should be totally banned from the Internet without feeling like a hypocrite. However, I do feel that some things do need to change and until this change happens child porn on the Internet will survive.

From what I have seen of porn sites, many are divided into categories feeding any possible fetish that is out there. Included in this is a category called "teen." Where supposedly legal aged women are engaging in sexual acts while posing as teenagers. Some may argue that this is just an innocent, totally harmless way for older men to fantasize. It can also be said that if the women posing as teenagers are really over eighteen nobody is getting hurt. I would totally agree with both of these viewpoints. But what happens when a "budding" pedophile sees these sites? Does this online role playing calm his/hers urges or does it simply stoke the fire?

My personal opinion is that this type of online role playing merely stokes the fire of pedophiles looking for a way to calm their urges. I have come to this opinion by looking at it the following way. Why does anybody look at porn? The answer most likely is that they are looking for a way to quench their thirst for sex while they are unable to do the real thing. A "budding" pedophile may look at "teen" porn while trying to calm their urge without risking breaking the law. This would actually be a positive thing, but you have to ask the question. Does looking at porn actually quench the thirst for actual sex? I believe the answer to that question is a resounding no. It may for a while but eventually it is going to make the viewer want the real thing more and more. So what will happen to the "budding" pedophile that looks at "teen" porn? More than likely this will calm their urge for awhile but that will only last so long. Eventually they will go looking for more, and if you can find child porn without even looking for it, how easy must it be to find if you are really hunting it?

Until the porn industry tightens its strings and stops playing into societies obsession with youth, the Internet will remain polluted with child porn. Am I saying that porn needs to be restricted to only showing people over 40? Of coarse not! What I am saying is, that porn producers and webmasters shouldn't have a category called "teen." That is a fetish that just shouldn't be fed. Many sites say that they have a zero tolerance for illegal pornography, if this is true webmasters should want to get rid of the "teen" category. These webmasters should not want to feed a group which is most likely largely made up of closeted pedophiles.

So no, I don't have any problems with porn when those involved with it are consenting adults. My problem comes, when porn sites that are supposedly following the law wittingly or not feed the fire for child porn. I am not saying that ridding Internet porn sites of "teen" categories will eliminate child porn. But until the attitudes that allow that category to exist change nothing will ever truly improve.

Searching In Wrong Places

I recently saw something that disturbed me. It was a web page created by an organization called Traditional Values. This web page draws a link between homosexuality and pedophilia. Now everybody has there own views of homosexuality that's not really the point. The point is that it is sites like these that send people barking up the wrong tree.

There has been research done, and you will find no where from credible sources anything linking homosexuality to pedophilia. It is not to say that they are not homosexuals who are also pedophiles, but it is not the homosexuality causing the pedophilia. From what I have read pedophilia is a disease of which the cause is really unknown. If you look at statistics more girls are molested than boys, and more men are pedophiles than women. This can lead to the simple conclusion that most child molesters or pedophiles are heterosexual. I would go so far to say that there should be a separate category for pedophiles, since there have been many cases of someone molesting both girls and boys.

This "Traditional Values" web page is not the first place where I have heard of this stereotype. Apparently it is a pretty commonly held belief. I am not without prejudices, I think everybody is a little prejudice against one group or another for whatever reason but I find that most of the time prejudice or hatred comes from not understanding. Human sexuality is a hard thing to understand because it is so complex. People who are heterosexual sometimes find it hard to fathom that someone can be sexually attracted to their same gender. Just as a vast majority of the population finds it hard to see how somebody can be sexually attracted to children. I believe it is from this that the connection between homosexuality is drawn. Some people do not understand homosexuality and most people do not understand pedophilia.

Homosexuality in and of itself does not involve forcing anybody into anything they do not want to do and it has absolutely nothing to do with children. However, pedophilia involves forcing children into something they can not possibly consent to. This standing by itself makes pedophilia, wrong.

Obviously the people that created this web page were slanted and did not take the time to look at real research and statistics. They apparently have their own agenda they want to push and they will do it in whatever way they can. Whatever the case, it is wrong to draw a connection such as this "Traditional Values" page did. It is things like this that spur stereotypes and promote misinformation. When dealing with something like the subject of pedophilia you have to be very careful with finger pointing. Accusing someone of being a pedophile can ruin an innocent persons life, because once that label is attached it will never go away even if they are totally innocent. This web page labels homosexuals as pedophiles and can cause people who are not open minded or educated enough to go searching in wrong places.

Maybe the people at Traditional Values think they are doing a service to the public. In my opinion they are doing a dis-service and if they really did hold values they would not spread lies and bigotry on the Internet or in any form.

Freedom of Speech: A pedophiles best friend?

Freedom of Speech. It's the first amendment of the United States Constitution. It is allowing me to write this blog right now. However I have recently started to think about the parameters of this gigantic thing. Personally I feel that everyone should have the right to express their opinion. If someone doesn't like something they should have the right to say so. But what I have been wondering lately is if their needs to be a limit on this freedom. Now before you get all mad, hear me out you'll understand what I mean by the end of this blog entry.

I recently heard about a website where pedophiles, essentially trade stories and/or fantasy's. The site doesn't operate underground, it is legal. Why? The reason being there aren't pictures and as far as the U.S is concerned the site is protected under the First Amendment (Freedom of Speech). So while it maybe sick, there's really not much that can be done about it.

Now when I said that I believe in Freedom of Speech that's true but it comes with an asterisk. Freedom of Speech is great as long as it doesn't hurt anybody physically. The problem with sites like the one I mentioned is that they condone physical harm. Now these people may not term it as rape, but when it comes down to it, that's what their "fantasy's" are. Some people may say that this type of site is OK, as long as it's all fantasy and that it may even keep pedophiles from actually harming a real child.

Reality Check: While reading stories may satisfy someones appetite for awhile eventually it is not going to be enough. It's the same idea as looking at porn will satisfy someones urgings for sex. It might work for awhile, but eventually that person is going to want the real thing as much if not more than they did before. Pedophilia is disturbing, it is wrong and so far has proven itself to be more or less uncontrollable. If somebody is visiting the type of site previously mentioned, they are looking to satisfy some type of need or want. That site could come dangerously close to being a "how to lesson" for a pedophile more than an "appetite suppressant."

So no, I'm not against freedom of speech, I love it and I exercise mine as you can tell. But I don't think that the founding fathers of the United States intended the First Amendment to protect child molesters. So while it should be OK for a person to voice their displeasure with a current war. It should not be allowed for that person to voice their fantasy of molesting a child, and sharing how they would or did do it with others.

Reality Check

OK so nothing's perfect right? I mean fault can be found with anything in the world. But does this mean we ignore the inperfections and let them go? What if the inperfections are hurting people? You may be asking yourself what these questions have to do with fighting pedophiles. The truth is they have everything to do with it.
The internet is a great tool, but it is far from perfect. It is so vast that illegal activity can go un-noticed on it. The vastness of the internet can lead to a feeling that it can not be policed. So people know that pedophiles are operating on the internet, but they don't try to do anything about it because after all the internet is too big. Right?
Wrong! The fact is, children are being victimized because the popular feeling around is that the internet can not be policed. Or people don't want the internet policed because then "big brother" would be watching. I'll leave my personal feelings on that one out of this discussion. But I will say if internet web hosting companies took more care to see what was on their servers the internet could almost police itself.
Yeah, this would cost money, but it would create jobs. More importantly it would save children from falling victim to pedophiles using the internet as a hangout. Maybe it would be an inconvience to big corporations that only care about the bottom line. But should we really care about them? How much do they care about us?
The fact is costing a major, faceless corporation a few bucks here and there won't, in the end, hurt in the end hurt anybody, even the company itself. The expense or the time is worth it, when it saves an innocent child from the pain of abuse.
So yeah, maybe the internet is big, maybe it would be complicated to fully police it. But that does not mean we shouldn't try, not when people are being hurt by it. Visit abusefreedom.com to learn more about a law to help protect children on the internet.

The Law

There is a group out there called Abuse Freedom United, which is trying to get new legislation passed that would force website hosting companies to be responsible for the content they post on their servers.
With all its benefits the Internet has unfortunately become a major tool for pedophiles. Child porn sites exist in mass numbers, these sites allow pedophiles to view, download and trade images of children being molested. Websites that do not contain pornographic images also exist, where pedophiles essentially trade ideas. While freedom of speech is a great thing there needs to be a line when it starts hurting others. These sites are dangerous to all children, even ones that have not been molested yet. The fact that pedophiles can so easily trade information and even pictures should be alarming to everyone.
I am only 21 years old when I was younger, right before the Internet’s use became common place, I was always warned of “stranger danger.” For whatever reason, I don’t really understand why, I came up with this picture of a man lurking in the bushes in a park somewhere. The scary thing today is it is no longer sufficient to be wary of the man lurking in the bushes of the neighborhood park. That park has morphed into the computer, and that bush has become the Internet.
I realize that this subject remains under the radar for many people, some may even question the true existence of these sites. I was one of those that, never really thought about it until a year and a half ago when while surfing the Internet I accidentally came across a website containing graphic images that were child pornography. The pictures were alarming to say the least. It is important that people get involved to get this purposed law passed. The law would seriously decrease the ease in which pedophiles can share information. Getting these people off the Internet makes not only it, but everywhere safer for children. Obviously I realize making it harder for pedophiles to share information on the Internet will not eliminate the problem of child abuse but it will make it harder for pedophiles to “brag” to their friends about what they have done or share other types of information.

A Word To Those Wanting To See Child Porn

I have a website called www.stopchildpornnow.com, through my host company I can see not only how many hits I get, but how those people got to my website. When people come through a search engine, not only do I see what search engine they have used but exactly what they have searched for. I have had the website for a little over a year, in that time I have found multiple people searching for child porn. I know with the way search engines work this blog may eventually end up in the results area for people looking to view actual child porn the same way my website has. For that reason I am writting this post, to all of those searching to view the disgusting material.
GET HELP NOW!! Maybe you disgusting excuses for human beings don't see anything wrong with what you are doing. Maybe you don't care that innocent children are being harmed for your "pleasure." Maybe that makes you get your rocks off even faster. If that's the case I can only suggest seeking professional help as soon as possible. I would suggest something else you could do, but I'm afraid of the legal action that maybe taken against me if somebody actually takes my advise. So if the countless number of children's lives you are ruining through viewing and downloading child porn don't mean anything to you, maybe this will. There's people out there like me, that have websites, that check their hit counters, that look to see how people are finding their sights. They see what searches have been used and when they find one from a pedophile searching for his next hit of the vile filth that is child porn, they report that pedophile to the authorities. BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU, and it's not just in the form of the FBI. There are sane people out there, people that know that harming children is wrong and dispicable. People that want to see you go straight to hell and burn for all eternity for being the depraved sick ****'* you are. So go ahead I dare you to write me a response on this blog, or even better yet visit my website, e-mail me, tell me how wrong you think I am. We'll see who's sleeping in his own bed in a few months and who's the one in prison warding off Buba. You know you're low when even murders can't stand the sight of you.
If you haven't found actual child porn yet, then stop your search now, and start looking for professional help. You haven't broken the law yet, therefore you haven't yet contributed the ruining of an innocent person's life. But the second you join that site, and you download those pictures you may as well be the one raping the child, because for every dollar you spend you create demand for another child to be harmed.

Is anyone listening?

In October of 2006 I came across a website containing child porn, and was alarmed not just by the content but by the run around I got trying to report it. My first thought was contacting the FBI, but there was nothing on their website. I then tried calling my local police department and the person who answered the phone gave another phone number to call. This phone number was to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The lady that picked up was very nice but informed me that I had to report the site I found on the center's website. I then had to search through my history to find the illegal site and copy and paste the URL into the form.
The process was incredibly frustrating, so a few weeks later I started my own website with a direct link to the page where people can report incidents of child porn hoping to save others from the frustration I experienced.
Since the summer of 2007 I have been working with a lady who is trying to get a new law passed that would make web site hosts responsible for the content of the sites they have on their servers. In trying to assist her I have found nothing but apathy towards the subject. I know it's a revolting subject, one I don't like thinking about but it is important to remember that children don't have a voice of their own, not with the way our society is set up.
When molestation cases appear on the news there's always the question of whether the child is telling the truth. People don't want to believe child porn exists so they ignore the problem allowing pedophiles to keep praying on innocent children. Internet Child Porn exists and is a major problem. One website on crime reports that child porn is a $2 to $3 billion a year industry. How many children are forced into sex for the pedophiles to earn this money?
People need to wake up and realize that child porn exists outside Law and Order episodes, we need to work together to better police the internet. Everytime a child porn website is created it was at the cost of multiple children's innocence.
